Future Gifts

There are many ways to continue your commitment to environmental improvement through planned gifts as part of your estate plan.

Simple Bequest

Make a future gift to Sand County Foundation by directing assets to us in your will or living trust. You may make your bequest unrestricted, or direct it to a specific program of Sand County Foundation. Indicate a specific amount, or a percentage of the balance remaining in your estate or trust. We can assist you with the proper language for your bequest.

Beneficiary Designation in IRA or Other Qualified Retirement Plan

You may name Sand County Foundation as a beneficiary of your IRA or other qualified retirement benefits. Consult with your tax advisor regarding the tax benefits of such gifts. Passing such assets onto heirs can carry heavy tax consequences. Donors who choose to name Sand County Foundation as a beneficiary of a retirement plan maintain complete control over the asset while living. At the donor's death, the assets support Sand County Foundation free of estate and income taxes.

Making a charitable gift from your retirement plan is easy by requesting a change of beneficiary form from your plan administrator. Simply return the form to your plan administrator and notify Sand County Foundation of your intentions.

Beneficiary Designation in a Life Insurance Policy

You may make Sand County Foundation the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, and your estate will receive a charitable deduction from estate taxes for that gift. If you continue to pay premiums on the life insurance policy after making the gift, you can deduct those premium payments from your income taxes.

Gifts that Provide Income

Sand County Foundation encourages individuals to name Sand County Foundation as a beneficiary in a Charitable Remainder Trust. However, the Foundation does not function as a trustee at this time. After visiting with your advisor, please contact us if you wish to name the Foundation as a beneficiary of an income-generating gift.
