Trinity River Benefits From Voluntary Landowner Conservation Efforts
June 11, 2015
The Trinity River is an important water source for a large portion of Texas. It supplies water for the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston metropolitan areas, both of which have increasing water demands as their populations grow. As a result, water conservation is a big concern for those in the area trying to maintain a balance between the demand and use of this precious resource.
Through the NRCS' National Water Quality Initiative, some landowners in the Chambers Creek watershed have received funding to implement conservation measures to benefit water users who depend on the Trinity River. The NRCS in Texas recently produced a video highlighting the partnership between government authorities, Miller Coors and Sand County Foundation, and how they are collaborating with those private landowners in the watershed to improve water quality and quantity.
