Erickson to Lead Leopold Conservation Awards in the Dakotas

Alex Erickson of Grand Forks has been tapped to manage the Leopold Conservation Award program in North and South Dakota.

Sand County Foundation’s Leopold Conservation Award program annually recognizes farmers, ranchers, and forestland owners in 28 states. Their efforts to improve soil health, water quality, and wildlife habitat serve as inspiration for others to consider conservation opportunities on their own land.

Erickson serves as associate director of the Leopold Conservation Award program, bringing experience in agricultural sales, business development, and marketing to the role.

“Alex’s ability to connect with our network of landowners helps us to advance conservation opportunities across the country,” said Lance Irving, national director of the Leopold Conservation Award for Sand County Foundation.

“This expanded role will allow him to manage our successful award programs in North and South Dakota.”

Sand County Foundation, based in Wisconsin, is a national non-profit that inspires and empowers farmers, ranchers, and forestland owners to ethically care for the land to sustain water resources, build healthy soil, and enhance wildlife habitat.
