Eli Halverson Joins Sand County Foundation as Agricultural Field Specialist

MADISON, Wis. – Sand County Foundation has named Eli Halverson as its Agricultural Field Specialist. Halverson will provide technical support for Sand County Foundation’s agricultural conservation team, coordinating and conducting field data collection for farms across nine Midwestern states.
Sand County Foundation, based in Madison, is a national non-profit working with farmers, ranchers, foresters, and other private landowners to improve soil health, water quality and wildlife habitat.
“We’re thrilled that Eli is joining our growing team,” said Heidi Peterson, Sand County Foundation’s Vice President of Agricultural Research and Conservation. “Eli’s passion for conservation and soil science is contagious; I have no doubt that he will inspire land managers to discover and embrace their own land ethic.”
“Eli’s research experience evaluating long-term land management implications on soil carbon and erosion will provide added value to Sand County Foundation’s portfolio of agricultural conservation projects,” Peterson added.
Halverson holds a Master of Science focused on soil science from South Dakota State University, where he served as assistant coach of the SDSU soil judging team. He received a Bachelor of Science in natural resource management from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Halverson, a native of Stoughton, Wisconsin, is based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He began his duties on July 8.
