The Pollinator Habitat Grant is a competitive program for high schools (grades 9-12) ready to restore native habitat within a working landscape to benefit pollinators, improve soil health, and gain real-world horticultural skills.

We encourage applicants to team up with a local farmer or land manager as a host site; school property is allowed if it is dedicated to agricultural purposes or ecological restoration, and will persist as an outdoor learning space into the future. 

Selected schools receive a $500 award, a $200 stipend for the lead teacher, live native plants, instructional resources, and seeds to grow at least 1,000 seedlings and plant a 1,000-square-foot pollinator garden. Proper site preparation is key to success, and Sand County Foundation staff provide technical support throughout. It's an ideal next step for teachers who've completed the Seed Starter Activity or already have some experience growing native plants.

We will begin accepting applications for the next round of Pollinator Habitat Grants in May 2027.
