Sand County Foundation is inviting High School educators in the Midwest (IA, IL, MI, MN, WI) to apply for the Pollinator Habitat Grant program, which awards selected schools with $500 to support project expenses to restore or create native habitat in their area with students. Schools receive guidance from SCF's Education and Outreach Specialist, curriculum, and the lead teacher receives an additional $200 stipend for participating, distributed in $100 increments at the beginning and end of the program.
Applicants must secure a suitable site where they will create or restore native habitat, relevant to their local ecosystem. After attending training webinars, teachers will guide students in site preparation, raising native plants, and establishing habitat. Schools may also receive native seeds, growing trays, and live plants to supplement their plantings as part of this program.
Applications can be submitted until May 22nd, 2026. Award recipients will be notified if they have been selected by Monday, June 1st, and will be given until Friday, June 5th, 2026 to formally accept. Funds are distributed from October 2026 to June 2027 ($500 to the school district October 2026, $100 to the lead teacher following seed propagation webinar in December 2026, and $100 to lead teacher in June 2027 following final report).
